Breviceps Fuscus The Fascinating Black Rain Frog

Breviceps Fuscus: The Fascinating Black Rain Frog

Discovery and Characteristics

Breviceps fuscus, commonly known as the black rain frog, is a burrowing frog found in the southern coast of Africa. Its striking black coloration has earned it the nickname "plain rain frog". This amphibian thrives in both underground tunnels and among vegetation, often found at elevations up to 3300 feet.

Physical Attributes and Behavior

Black rain frogs are characterized by their round eyes, webbed toes, and a grumpy expression. Their short limbs limit their range of motion, but they can still hop around on land. Interestingly, despite their terrestrial lifestyle, these frogs have adapted to digging tunnels, where they can retreat for shelter.
