Lugo is a veteran of eight major league seasons, having previously pitched for the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers. He has a career 4.14 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 328 career appearances, including 102 starts.
Lugo is expected to report to the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He could provide the Yankees with a depth option for their bullpen, which has been taxed by injuries this season.
